One man in his 70s has died, and two more were injured in a multi vehicle collision on the M7 in North Tipp this afternoon.
Both the deceased and one of those injured are believed to be occupants of the same vehicle which was one of three that collided in the southbound lane of the motorway at Junction 27 Birdhill.
The stretch of road is currently closed, and traffic is being diverted off the motorway at Junction 26 Nenagh West. The road is expected to remain closed overnight.
Four units of the Fire Service are at the scene – 1 each from Newport and Killaloe, and 2 from Nenagh – as well as Gardaí and ambulance crews.

Separately , two units of the fire service – one each from Cashel and Thurles – are currently attending a caravan fire in Holycross.
