The body of a man has been recovered from the River Shannon in Ballina/Killaloe.
Local gardai, assisted by members of Irish Coast Guard, and Killaloe Fire and Rescue service carried out searches in the area, after a member of the public alerted the authorities to a car parked close to a slipway just outside the town, shortly before midday yesterday.
The body of the man was removed from the water and was taken to University Hospital Limerick, where a post mortem is due to be carried out.
