Council issues warning due to orange weather alert

Sub zero temperatures of as low as minus 8 degrees are expected in the Premier County overnight.

Met Eireann has issued a countrywide status orange low temperature weather warning from 8pm.

A status orange snow and ice warning’s also in place for 11 counties including Tipperary.

It’s expected that the rain and snow which fell today will freeze on the roads overnight, and will create treacherous driving conditions.

Tipperary County Council will be out salting roads across the Premier in the early hours of the morning – but are warning that it may not be 100% effective.

They’re also appealing for people to delay their morning journeys until the ice thaws if possible.

Director of Services for Roads with Tipperary County Council is Marcus O’ Connor..
