Tipperary is included among a number of areas where Vodafone is to trial 5G wireless broadband over the coming weeks.
The Fixed Wireless Access trials will cover Clonmel, Roscommon, Dungarvan and Gorey reaching up to 20,000 premises.
Vodafone says the aim of the trial is to explore the possibility of operating a dedicated rural wireless network.
