3 held over violent Roscrea break in

Roscrea gardaí investigating an aggravated burglary in the North Tipperary town earlier this month have arrested three men.

94-year-old Jimmy Campion and his wife Maura were assaulted by two men who broke into their home on the night of  May 7th. They gained access to the house through a side window and a quantity of cash was stolen.

Jimmy Campion was taken to the  Midlands Regional Hospital Portlaoise by ambulance suffering from head injuries. His wife while uninjured was left deeply traumatised.

Gardai have been following several lines of inquiry and yesterday a 28 year old man was arrested in Dublin- He is being held in a North Tipperary Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.

Then two more males – one 17 and the other 34 were arrested by officers today, also in the Dublin area. They are  both detained in north Tipperary Garda Stations under the provisions of Section 4 – Criminal Justice Act 1984.
