100 people still on boil notice in West Tipp

700,000 people nationwide get their drinking water from supplies that are at risk of contamination with chemicals or diseases like Cryptosporidium.

That’s according to a new EPA report which says the overall quality of drinking water supplies is improving, but more still needs to be done.

More than 99 per cent of drinking water samples complied with quality and safety standards.

But 3,600 people are still living with a Boil Water Notice on their supply – 100 of these are on the Dundrum Regional supply in West Tipperary, parts of which have been on a boil notice since October 2016.

Darragh Page from the EPA explains how some supplies are considered at risk.
