540 patients on trolleys at hospitals across the country

University Hospital Limerick and South Tipp General are among the three worst affected hospitals today.

According to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation UHL – which provides Emergency Department cover for North Tipp, Clare and Limerick – has 55 patients without a bed.

There are a further 42 in Clonmel while Cork University Hospital is the most overcrowded with 58.
