Carrick-on-Suir has now been designated as a hinterland town to Waterford City.
The news was welcomed by councillors at this week’s Carrick-on-Suir Municipal District meeting.
The designation is part of the Regional Spatial and Economic Strategy and will offer a boost for the town in terms of revenue and tourism.
