Limerick Hospital issues appeal amid chronic overcrowding

People in North Tipp are being asked to stay away from University Hospital Limerick unless it is a genuine emergency.

The Limerick facility has issued a statement this afternoon saying it has been experiencing a high number of patients
attending the ED over the weekend, with many still awaiting a bed.

Management at the hospital are asking people to think about their care and treatment options and keep ED services
for the patients who need them most.

They are advising people, that patients with limb injuries can go to an Injury Unit in Ennis, Nenagh or St John’s Hospital.

Others with a less serious illness can be treated by their GP or out of hours GP service
