Arravale Rovers crowned West Senior Football Champions

Arravale Rovers have been crowned West senior football champions for 2017.

They beat Galtee Rovers on a scoreline of 4-10 to 2-10

Arravale got an early penalty in the game – scored by goalkeeper Timmy Dalton – which put them on the front foot.

However, it took only a couple of minutes for Galtee’s to come back with a goal of their own from Tony Egan.

It went level after 13 minutes at 1-1 a piece.

Galtee pulled ahead, but Arravale pulled back another goal after 21 minutes – this time through Brian Lowry.

The Tipp town side led at the break 2-3 to 1-4.

It was Galtee’s who started the better in the second half, pulling the game back level, and going ahead for a period only to see Arravale pull back the lead again – aided by a goal from capitain Shane Leahy, and another from substitute Stephen Quinn.

25 minutes into the secomd half Galtee Rovers scored a penalty through Tony Egan, which saw them back within 4 points of the Tipp town side.

But Arravale Rovers stuck it out, and it finished up Arravale Rvs: 4-10 to Galtee Rvs: 2-10.

This decade they’ve won the final four times, in 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2017.
