Since the introduction of rent pressure zones last Christmas, the Residential Tenancies Board says they’ve been inundated with calls – of around a thousand a day.
The new rules are supposed to limit landlords to a 4 per cent annual rent increase in areas where the prices have been soaring.
But the latest stats show disputes over rents have more than trebled, with three-quarters of all cases decided in favour of the tenants.
