Calls are being made for the Minister for Agriculture to amend legislation concerning animal welfare.
Deputy Mattie McGrath brought the case of a Tipperary woman who rescued an abused horse to the Dáil yesterday – she’s spent close to €1,000 nursing the horse back to health.
She is adamant that she won’t return the horse to the owner – despite being told by the Department she must do so, as he has produced a passport.

She told Fran Curry on Tipp Today about the condition the horse was in when she found it.
